Activities Organized during 2012-13 :

NSS Regular activities :

  1. A Thalasemia Camp was organized in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society, Ahmedabad. In this camp 456 students were examined by the laboratory technician of Indian Red Cross Society, Ahmedabad on the 7th &8th September, 2012 at Junagadh, Veraval, Dhari and Amreli.
  2. A blood donation camp was arranged by students, NSS unit of College of Agriculture with the Co-operation and guidance of Programme Co-ordinator(NSS), JAU, Junagadh on the 22nd September, 2012. This programme was arranged in Collaboration with Sarvoday Blood Bank, Junagadh.
  3. A one day cleaning camp viz; Shram-Yagna was jointly organized by the Programme Co-ordinator (NSS), JAU, Junagadh on the 1st October, 2011 by the NSS volunteers of local colleges and polytechnics. In this camp, 275 volunteers participated enthusiastically, and cleaning work was carried out at New Indoor Sports Stadium, College of Agricultural Engineering & Technology premises, Gymkhana ground and Govardhan Hostel of Veterinary College.
  4. Five NSS volunteer of College of Fisheries, JAU, Veraval participated in "SAVE WHALE" campaign programme conducted by Wild Life Trust of India in November, 2011. In this programme, 200 people from fisherman's community were benefited in terms of information about the protection of endangered species for the conservation point of view.
  5. The NSS Unit collected the fund of Rs.43,880/- from the all Constituent Colleges and Polytechnics of JAU including Millet Research Station, Jamnagar, Fruit Crop Research Station, Mahuva and deposited to Soldier Welfare Fund.

Nature Education Camp

Fifty volunteers from College of Agriculture Engineering and Technology, JAU, Junagadh participated in the Nature Education Camp during 19th to 20th October, 2012 at Khadiya (Ta. Junagadh). These NSS Volunteers( girls) indentified certain plants species' and got important information about their nature of growing.

Other Activities :

  1. The NSS Volunteers took active participation in the College clean-up and made the campus plastic free.
  2. A youth awareness programme by two young students Shri Harminder Singh and Bhupinder Singh arrived on bike from Jammu & Kashmir travelling from different States to Junagadh for the youth awareness campaign and interactions with JAU Students was organized on 4th January, 2013.
  3. With the inspiration from Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, JAU, Dr. N. C. Patel a Spiritual-Cultural programme for the Students of University was organized in collaboration of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, Akshar Mandir, Junagadh and Junagadh Agricultural University on 2nd February, 2013 to mould the youth in right direction. The main theme of the programme was "Vande Mataram".
  4. A Training programme was organized on "Training in Life Skills and  Personality Development " during the 2nd to 6th Marchr,2013 in collaboration with Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD), Sriperumbudur, Tamilnadu in which 51 student participated enthusiastically.
  5. Dr. G. P. Mishra, Sr. Scientist, Directorate of Groundnut Research, Junagadh gave valuable information  to the students in his special lecture  organized on 12th March, 2013  about preparation for JRF/SRF Competitive examinations along with details of Reading material and reference books.
  6. An interaction programme for the preparation of civil services exams was arranged on 27th September, 2012 by the NSS unit of College of Agriculture, JAU, Junagadh and 175 students participated. In this programme, Mr. Rajesh, IAS, Dy. District Development Officer, Junagadh provided information regarding the preparation of civil cervices exams.
  7. Micro Medium and Small Enterprises (MSME)-DI Govt. of India, Ahmedabad in collaboration with District Industrial Centre, Govt. of India Junagadh organized an Industrial Motivation Campaign in the Conference hall of College of Agriculture, JAU, Junagadh on 15th February, 2013 at 15:30 to 17:30 hrs. The purpose of organizing this IMC seminar was to motivate and encourage students of the College of Agriculture to establish Micro Medium and Small Enterprises to generate employment.  In this programme faculties from District Industrial Centre, SBI-R-SETI, GIDC and employment offices delivered the lectures about their organization to establish Micro Medium and Small Enterprises ranging investment in plant & machinery from `10.00 lakhs to `10.00 crores.
  8. With the inspiration of Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Dr. N.C. Patel a special lecture on   " Greater Understanding of how to integrate Values in Practical life, gain greater powers of concentration, focus of thinking, better quality in relationship with peers and the teachers as well as better integration into the agricultural profession after the studies are completed" was delivered  by BK Sister Denise Lawrence, Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya, Mount Abu on 19th March, 2013 to the Students of Colleges and Polytechnics of Junagadh in two sessions.

Adventure :   Forty one Student (31 boys + 10 girls) of different colleges and Polytechnics of this university participated in the Basic Rock climbing camp organized by the Pandit Dindayal Upadhyay State Mountaineering Institute, at  Mount Girnar, Junagadh during the 16/06/2012 to 25/06/2012.

State level Camp  :A State level Camp for the outstanding NSS volunteer was organized by Pandit Dindayal Petroleum University, Gandhinagar, during 4th to  6th June 2012. In this camp total 8 NSS volunteers (6 boy + 2 girl) one each from all colleges and Polytechnics of JAU participated.

  1. Mega Summer Camp: NSS Regional Center, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports regularly organizes Mega Summer Camp  was organized during 6th to 17th June, 2012 at Andhra University, Visakhapattanam (Andhra Pradesh) .In this camp 2 volunteer participated.
