Sports and Extra Curricular Activities :

Study and sports are two linked components of our learning process and will always be important for an individual. A healthy mind can exist only in a healthy body. It is rightly said that a healthy nation can be built if most of the citizens are physically fit. The mental pressure and tension arising out of the fast modern life can only be released in the playground and therefore healthy diet and fitness have gained a new status in today's world.

In JAU the faculties always participate in student activities to make overall development possible in the student community. Our Sports complex is well equipped with all necessary infrastructural facilities for indoor and outdoor sports.

Indoor :

1. One full-fledged Badminton Court

2. One full-fledged Table Tennis Court

3. One partly equipped exercise space

Outdoor :

1. Two Volleyball Court

2. Two Basketball Court

3. One Kho-Kho Court

4. Two Kabbadi Ground

5. One cricket Ground

6. Running Tracks of 400 meters

7. All the necessary equipments for various games

Along with the academic curriculum, the students were also trained for the development of skills and excellence in various sports activities. For this reason, Inter-Collegiate competitions for several games like chess, table-tennis, badminton, kabaddi, volley ball, basket ball, kho-kho, cricket, weight-lifting, athletics, cultural activities, essay, debate and elocution competitions etc. are regularly arranged at various colleges. The selected students from Inter-Collegiate competitions are nominated for Inter-University participation. 

Inter College Sports / Culture Programmes organized (2011-12) :

1. Inter Collegiate Table tennis and Badminton (Men & Women) tournaments organized on  August-10th-2011. In both tournaments College of Agril. Engg. Secured first position.

2. Inter Collegiate Debate, Extempore, Essay and Basketball  tournaments organized on  September-03rd-2011. In Debate (favour),Extempore and Essay College of Fisheries, in debate (Against) College of Agril. Engg. secured first position. While in Basketball College of Agriculture secured first position.

3. Inter Collegiate Kabaddi and Kho-kho tournaments organized on  October-1st-2011. In both tournaments College of Agrilculture secured first position.

4. Inter college Twenty-20 cricket competition was organized on January-25-26, 2012 and was won by the college of Agriculture, Junagadh.

5. The Seventh Inter college and Inter polytechnics Athletics-sports Meets 2012 were organized on February,  2nd-3rd, 2012. The championships won by the College of Agriculture, Junagadh in the categories Men and College of Agril. Engg. for Women respectively.

6. Inter Collegiate Volleyball and Weight lifting tournaments organized on  September-17th-2011. In both tournaments College of Agriculture secured first position.

7. Cultural activities have become the intrinsic part of the regular activities performed by the students. It gives a chance to students to exhibit their hidden talents, in various forms of arts, university organize inter collegiate cultural competition regularly. Inter collegiate Chess and cultural competition was successfully organized on 12th January, 2012 at JAU. In Chess College of Agril. Engg. secured first position, while in cultural competitions the college of Agriculture of this University secured the first position in Drama, Folk dance, and mono acting, College of Veterinary in Group song, College of Fisheries in fancy dress while College of Agri. Engineering and Technology stood second in Fancy dress and Atheletics (Women). 

    

       In addition to inter collegiate competition, to encourage students various cultural events viz.Drama, Folk Dance, Fancy Dress, Group Song, Mono acting are also organized during the annual day function of all colleges.

Inter-collegiate Athletics & Sports Tournament

 Inter University Participation :

1. Inter Agricultural Universities of Gujarat State Kho-kho and Kabaddi tournament organized at SDAU, Sardar krushinagar during 14^th and 15^th October, 2011. In Kabaddi JAU team secured first position.

2. The fourth Gujarat State Agricultural Universities Chess, Table Tennis and Badminton competition were successfully organized on 9^th and 10th February, 2012 at Anand Agricultural University, Anand. Junagadh Agricultural University secured first position Table tennis (Men) the second position in Table Tennis (Women). 

3. Twenty eight students of Junagadh Agricultural University took part in Gujarat State Inter Agricultural Universities Cultural and debate competitions held at Anand Agricultural University, Anand during 9^th and 10th February, 2012. Junagadh Agricultural University secured first position in Debate (Against) and first in folk dance and second in drama.

4. Forty students participated in the 13^th All India Inter Agricultural Universities Sport and Games Meet-2012 held Panjab Rao Deshmukh Krishi Vidhyapith at Akola (Maharashtra) during the 16^th-19^th February, 2012. Junagadh Agricultural University secured second position in Shot put and won silver medal.

5. Team of Junagadh Agricultural University participated in Inter Agricultural Universities of Gujarat State Cricket and Badminton tournament organized at Navsari Agricultural University, Navsari during 2nd and 3rd March, 2012.

6. University team participated in inter Agricultural Universities of  Gujarat State Basketball and Volleyball tournament  on 9th & 10^th March, 2012 organized at JAU, Junagadh. The Volleyball team of this university secured the first position.
