Introduction:

Polytechnic in agriculture at Dhari was established in the year 2008-09 by Agriculture and co-operation department, Government of Gujarat, Gandhinagar, under Junagadh Agricultural University, Junagadh.
At present there is one diploma school at Dhari. The minimum qualification of getting admission is 10th pass. After two year completion of the course the student is awarded diploma in agriculture. But now a days, looking to the present demand in the field of agriculture & allied science. It is highly need to start three years polytechnic in agriculture science instead of two years diploma course in agriculture science. The successful candidates have an opportunity to joined degree course in agriculture.
Training and visit system of extension has been introduced in Gujarat state since April-1978. In this system, village level workers (VLWs) are the link between the scientist and the farmers. The diploma holders in agriculture can serve as VLWs in this system. Hence to provide the sufficient no. of Agril. diploma holder, the Polytechnic in agriculture at dhari was started under the administrative control of Junagadh Agricultural University, Junagadh.

Admission :
|
|
The candidate of Gujarat state should have passed Secondary School Certificate Examination (Standard X) with English subject from any statutory Board in Gujarat State or Examinations recognized as equivalent thereto by the Board. The minimum requirement of marks in Mathematics, Science, Social Science, English and National or Regional Language out of 500 equivalent marks at the qualifying examination for admission to three years’ Diploma studies in Agriculture course shall be as under.
a. For Scheduled Tribes candidates (ST) 35 %
b. For Scheduled Castes candidates (SC) 40 %
c. For Socially and Educationally backward 40 %
class candidates (SEBC)
d. For all other candidates except where specific 45 %
contrary provision has been made in the rules.
The number of students to be admitted shall be decided, depending upon infrastructural facilities and faculty competence, by the Admission Committee consisting of Dean (as Chairman), Registrar (as Member) and Principal of Polytechnic (as Member Secretary). The present capacity of the polytechnic is 35 students per year.
Both boys and girls could get admission in the Diploma in Agriculture according to merits.

Requirements :
|
|
Admission to Diploma in Agriculture is based on the merit as evidenced by academic records of the qualifying exams. Minimum qualification for applying to the Diploma in Agriculture course will be Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Examination of Gujarat State or other equivalent examination along with English as a compulsory subject.
Three per cent marks for each failure will be deducted from the total marks secured.
Weightage of five percent of marks over and above marks obtained at qualifying examination shall be given for preparing merit list to the candidate, if he / she is farmer's Son / Daughter / Brother / Sister / Grand Son / Grand Daughter. However, candidate has to produce certificate of 7/12 record of current year from competent authority for having land in Gujarat under cultivation by himself / his / her Father, his / her Mother, his / her Grand Father (Paternal) / Grand Mother (Paternal) and his / her Brother.
Weightage of Five per cent of marks over and above marks obtained at qualifying examination shall be given for preparing merit list to the candidates, if he / she is holding diploma certificate in Agriculture / Horticulture.
Weightage of Five per cent of marks over and above marks obtained at qualifying examination shall be given for preparing merit list to the candidates, if he / she has passed Secondary School Certificate Examination (Standard X) with vocational stream in Agriculture as well as to the students who have passed Secondary School Certificate Examination (Standard X) with Agriculture subjects.

The age limit of a candidate on first day of July of the year of his/her first admission to the Diploma in Agriculture shall be in-between 14 to 25 years. This age limit may be relaxed in exceptional cases by the Admission Committee, if seats remain vacant.

* As per Regulation No 2.5.5(3) three per cent seats are reserved for the physically disabled (Physically handicapped) Candidates as per the conditions stated as under:
“A candidate having locomotor disability of one leg and partial arm shall be eligible to apply for admission to course, subject to the certificate from the Civil Surgeon/ Medical Superintendent of the Government hospital based on the opinions of the concerned specialist that the locomotor disabled candidate is in a position to undertake the course and perform the functions of the concerned field. The admissions will be on the basis of inter se merit only”.
Person with disability means a person suffering from not less than forty per cent of any disability as certified by a medical authority. No candidate having 100 % blindness or 100 % deafness shall be eligible for the admission.

SC/ST and SEBC candidates who are able to secure admission on merit shall not however be counted against the seat reserved for them.
A candidate availing himself / herself of reserved seat as mentioned at Sr. No. 1, 2, 3 and 4 of 2.5.5 shall be required to produce a certificate that he / she belonging to a particular group of backward class from the competent authority of the State. The candidate belonging to SEBC (Baxi commission) shall have to produce current" not belonging to Creamy Layer" certificate from competent authority, otherwise he / she will not be considered under the SEBC category. In case of any doubts or discrepancy about the castes/classes/group, the decision of the competent authority of the state shall be treated as final.
The candidate availing of any of reserved seats or enjoying any concessions in admission requirements shall however not be eligible to get more than one advantage of relaxation in minimum qualification at the same time.
In the event of some or all reserved seats specified above remaining vacant due to less number of application from eligible candidates, they shall be considered as open seat and will be filled in, in order of merit from the general list of candidates.
Ten per cent extra candidates may be admitted over the total seats and list shall have to be prepared at the stage of admission from the merit list with a view to balance the likely shortfall in the total seats on account of the candidates who may leave the study course after paying fees. Final decision will be taken by the admission committee looking to the infrastructure facilities.
In case of two or more candidates obtaining equal marks in the merit-list, the inter-se-merit of such candidates shall be determined in order of preference as follows:
(a) Candidates obtaining higher marks in Science subject in SSC examination.
(b) Candidates obtaining higher marks in Mathematics subject in SSC examination.
(c) Candidates obtaining higher marks in English subject in SSC examination.
(d) Candidate is older in age.

|
Growing and maintaining the crop museum in kharif & rabi season to provide practical experience to students.
Visited different research stations located at difference places and crop production week for advance research activities and crop technology.
Sports - cricket, holly ball, Badminton, Kho-Kho and other indoor games will be played with different groups of other polytechnics.
NSS Special camp was successfully organized at Sukhpur village of Dhari taluka Dist Amreli during 08-02-13 to 14-02-13. 50 participate was involved in different activities likes cleaning of drainage in all the street of village, 60 cattle check in cattle camp by veterinary Doctor of collage of veterinary Science, J.A.U., Junagadh, cleaning of water sump, training for women on preparation of Tomato ketchup and lemon cordial, visit to GIR forest area from Semaradi to Sapnesh and collect road side plastics and one very nice programme organized in night on "Andhsardha Nivaran" by Shri Gondaliya, Director of District Science Station, Amreli and various programme in this camp.
