Besides development of new varieties, the University also played a major role in introducing many new crops into the State, through systematic testing for the performance of these crops. In addition to introducing the crops, the University also has to its credit pioneered the use of these crops as food items by developing processing techniques and cuisines, assessing their food and nutritional value. A strong extension program of the University has ably supported the popularization of these crops. The University is fore front in research on bajra, groundnut, castor, gram, sesame, wheat, vegetable and Gir cow and Jafrabadi buffalo. It is really a matter of proud.
