DIRECTORATE OF EXTENSION EDUCATION

Junagadh Agricultural University, which encompasses seven districts, came into existence as a result of splitting of Gujarat Agricultural University into four separate University.

The University has three main mandates - education, research and extension education. I have to shoulder the responsibilities of extension education. We have undertaken various programmes to disseminate old and emerging research technologies to farmers. We have also launched a novel programme "Krushi Vignaniko Kheduto Na Dware" under the guidance of our Hon. Vice Chancellor Dr. N.C.Patel. This has gained popularity in entire Saurashtra region as the scientists of the university are entrusted with the task of co-ordination of research dissemination in different districts. Moreover Junagadh Agricultural University has spared the services of about 400 scientists in the Krishi Mahotsav celebrated by Govt. of Gujarat. University has also organized several need based programmes to increase awareness in farmers about new technologies in collaboration with Government / Co-operative sector and NGOs. Thus, our aim is to encourage farmers by providing them the latest knowledge of Agriculture, so that they could obtained bumper quality production of various crops, and we are constantly marching ahead on this line. Help of various mass media like Radio, Television, News Papers, Magazines as well as Exhibitions, Farmer Fairs has been taken to achieve this objective. We welcome the suggestions from farmers, we would be extremely happy, if we could serve them in a better way.

2. Wrote more than 300 Agril. recommendation on the out side wall of JAU.

3. Dr. N.C.Patel, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, JAU, Junagadh appointed as the chairman of 'VANCHE GUJARAT' campaign launched by Govt. of Gujarat  organised in the university and also planned to organised in coming days.

Important Achievements :

Following are the major achievement of DEE office :  

1. "Agricultural Scientists at the door step of the farmers" progaramme was launched and large numbers of farmers took the benefit of the scientist's knowledge.

2. Junagadh Agril. University has spared the services of about 400 scientists in the Krishi Mahotsav celebrated by Govt. of Gujarat.

3. Before Junagadh Agricultural University, there were two KVKs working in the Saurashtra region. After the existence of JAU, three more KVKs started in the Saurashtra under JAU.

4. Three new projects has been sanctioned -
   *  'ATIC' is sanctioned for Junagadh, Amreli, Jamnagar and Targhadia centre.
   *  'TOT' project is for Junagadh, Amreli, Jamnagar and Targhadia centres.
   *  'COC' is approved for main campus at Junagadh.
