Facilities of Farm / Lab : 

         This department has one practical class room cum laboratory to teach the students of B.Sc (Agri), B.Sc. (Horti.), Polytechnicin Horticulture and M.Tech (Agril.Engg). The lab has been equipped with various parts of engine and systems of tractor. Presently, the lab is provided with farm power and machinery cut models. The cut models of engine & tractor system help the students to understand construction and working of the system easily. The Lab has been also equipped with various working models like solar cooker, solar water heater, wind mill, groundnut digger shaker, groundnut decorticator, solar cum battery operated knapsack sprayer, etc.

         In addition to above, the department has one implement shed & museum where various farm implements/machines like tillage equipment: Ploughs, harrows, cultivator, subsoiler, cultivator cum spiked roller and rotavator, Sowing machines: Seed drills, zero till drill & planters, Inter-culturing tools: Hand hoes/ weeders etc, Irrigation Equipment: Centrifugal & Submersible pumps, Harvesting equipment: Groundnut digger shaker, pod exposer, Combine harvester, reaper etc. Processing equipment: Cotton stalk shredders, chaff cutter etc. are displayed to the students, farmers and others visitors.

Major Achievements:

     Staff of this department is involved in teaching of B.Sc. (Agri), B.Sc. (Horti.), Polytech in Horticulture and as well as post graduate students of Agril. Engg. Faculty including guiding their research work/project. Research activities are also going on particularly in the developments of farm equipment and machines and modification of existing farm equipment to make them suitable for the farmers of the region. Apart from teaching and research staff is also involved in extension activities including Krushi Mahotsav, a Guj. Govt. sponsored programme.

Future plan / thrust areas :

      Efforts are needed to design and develop appropriate machines for mechanization of horticultural crop including fruits and vegetables. There is a great need to identify and develop small farm tools and machines for hill region/tracts of the state whose productivity is very low. Development of specific farm equipments for women should be given priority.
