Junagadh Agricultural University (JAU), Junagadh is actively implementing the innovative initiative “Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav” to strengthen the direct connection between scientists and farmers and accelerate the transfer of research from lab to field. The programme provides farmers with timely information, guidance, and advisories through village adoption and regular interaction.
Small and marginal farmers play a vital role in Indian agriculture. Through MGMG, farmers gain access to information about new technologies and improved practices of agriculture, horticulture and agricultural engineering. Their active participation reflects their commitment to adopting improved practices and enhancing farm productivity and livelihoods.
The Director of Extension Education at JAU has been appointed as the nodal officer to implement the programme effectively, Multidisciplinary teams of scientists from the colleges, research stations, and Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) adopt selected villages, conduct regular visits, provide technical guidance, and organize training sessions, field demonstrations and extension activities according to local needs.
Through this initiative, a direct interface between scientists and farmers is established, ensuring that modern agricultural technologies and research-based knowledge reach the farming community efficiently.
