
The Pearl Millet Research Station (PMRS), Junagadh Agricultural University, Jamnagar has achieved two remarkable tasks in one day. In one of the national-level events PMRS, JAU, Jamnagar bagged consecutively the second year "Best Performing ICAR-AICRP Pearl Millet Centre" Award (2023-24, 2024-25 and 2025-26) for overall performance in pearl millet research and development. This year, Jamnagar has been adjudged as the Best research Station with rank 1. This award was given by ICAR-IIMR, Hyderabad, in the presence of DDG(CS), Director, IIMR, ADG(FFC), PC, Pearl Millet and other dignitaries in AGM of Pearl Millet, Sorghum and Small Millets, 18-20 May 2026 held at UAS, Dharwad.
On the same day, in the second event PMRS, JAU, Jamnagar also appreciated with one state level award by GUJARAT ASSOCIATION FOR AGRICULTURE SCIENCE(GAAS), Ahmedabad for releasing early maturing hybrid GHB 538 Improved (Maru Sona) applying MAS tools. This award was given to Dr. K.D.Mungra, Research Scientist (Pearl Millet) and his team by Hon'ble Chancellor and Governor of Gujarat, Shri Acharya Devavrat in the event Natural Farming Seminar Jointly organised by GAAS and Gujarat Natural Farming Science University held at GNSFU, Halol district Panchmahal, Gujarat.
Both these tasks have been achieved under the leadership of Dr K.D.Mungra and his team under the visionary guidance of Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Dr. V.P. Chovatia, Director of Research, Dr. A.G.Pansuriya and other officers of Junagadh Agricultural University.
