FUTURE PROSPECTS IN HOME SCIENCE:
These students can opt for careers in Foods & Nutrition, Human Development & Family Studies, Resource management & Consumer science and Apparel & Textiles. Direct admission in 2nd year in Degree Programme is plus point. Home science students can become dieticians in hospitals, diet consultants / counselors in lifestyle clinics, freelance dieticians food demonstrators, nutrition experts, consultants for child development programmes, programme officers for child welfare schemes and social development programmes in NGO, production managers in apparel industries. Besides that, a diploma in Home Science also opens up vistas for self-employment in the field like ready to eat food unit, tailoring and textile unit, Beauty Parlour etc. These diploma holders can also opt for degree course under diploma to degree programme. Other than these, students can select career like Teacher, Social Reformers, an Entrepreneur, Designer, Voluntary Welfare Services, Bakery & Confectionary Professional, Food Consultant, Dietician.
Fast growth in the health and nutrition, food processing sector, hospitality industry, fashion designing, child care and communication media due to changes in life style as a result of globalization has opened up the gate of opportunities for the skilled person in the various areas of home science.
